Day of Service

Saturday September 9, 2023

Meet Scarlett Elder, a 3-year-old currently living in Providence, UT. Scarlett has chromosome 9p deletion. This disorder occurs in approximately 1 out of 50,000 births. This disorder causes some differences in appearance, as well as delays in motor skill, speech, and learning function. She has had one corrective skull surgery and one abdominal corrective surgery since birth. She continues to be one of the sweetest little girls you've ever met, and the donations from this 5K would not only benefit her and her family but allow her to be instrumental in learning how to treat this disorder, as it was just documented in 2008 for the first time.

Scarlett has just started to walk and gives high five and knuckles to everyone she sees. She is a social butterfly who loves books, baby dolls and puppy dogs. She loves her siblings fiercely and shows her affection with lots of hugs and kisses. When you meet her, she might ask you to come sit by her, and she will praise you with "great job" and "thumbs up".
